A peak into Cress

Where the heck did June go?  I seem to have missed !

Right, for Book Beginnings on Friday, hosted by Rose City Reader I have the first bit of Cress.  I finally broke down and read it even though we have to wait until November 2015! to finally get the end of the story. Man, I thought it was due this November, not next. I would have put it off longer if I had realized. Oh well ... too late.

Note - you can't read Cress until you have read Cinder and Scarlet.

The story starts with ...

Her satellite made one full orbit around planet Earth every sixteen hours. It was a prison that came with an endlessly breathtaking view — vast blue oceans and swirling clouds and sunrises that set half the world on fire.

The Soyuz TMA-7 spacecraft departing from the International Space Station.
I wanted to get a picture of the Shenzhou spacecraft instead, but all I could
find were artists renderings. Weird. I hope Cress's satalite is nicer than a Soyuz.
(Oh man - if you are at all interested in how satalittes orbit, you need to read this )

And for The Friday 56 hosted at Freda's Voice page 56 of Cress has ...

He took one of the washcloths off the tray as she rolled by, chafing his fingers with the steaming cotton.

Nainsi set the tray on Kai's desk and turned to face him and Torin, launching into the day's reports that blissfully had nothing to do with wedding vows or eight-course dinners.

Sorry I don't have time for a non-fiction book this week.

Happy Forth of July!

  1. I love the excerpts. This is a series I'm really wanting to read. Thanks for sharing!

  2. What? November 2015?! Are they trying to kill us? How cruel...but at least we have Fairest being released in January. I might have waiting a little longer if I'd have known to.
    My Friday 56

  3. LOL I want to know why she didn't want to hear about weddings!

  4. I've heard good things about this series but haven't read either Cinder or Scarlet. They're on my list!
Here's the link to my Friday post: SIX MONTHS IN MONTANA.

  5. I just ordered Cinder and Scarlet can't wait to start reading them ^_^

    my BB and 56

  6. You've just made me interested in satellites. I've been trying to read Cinder for the longest time. I have it on my Kindle.

  7. Seeing as how I only need to read Cress, that first sentence really got me. I can't wait to read it now even more... like I thought that was possible! LOL

    Happy weekend!

Hi! I do read all of the comments and want to let you know that I really appreciate your stopping by and taking the time to leave a note. Work has fallen in on me and I have not had enough time to reply coherently lately so I apologize preemptively but still want to assure you that your comments are valued.
